Michael Saunders is a Research Professor in the Systems Optimization Laboratory at Stanford University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford in 1972 (advisor Gene Golub). He is known for his contributions to mathematical software. He teaches Large-Scale Numerical Optimization (MS&E 318, CME 338).
